Multiply^3 // Part 4, Simplify, Shift and Spread
04/02/2022
Several years ago, I was on the verge of collapse wondering how on earth I even got to that place. I shouldn’t have been surprised since I was responsible for all Christian Education from nursery to adult, the pastor over student ministries, seeing 26 people in counseling and at the same time trying to finish my graduate degree. Yet I always seemed to have a seemingly endless endurance in ministry so I just kept going. But in March of 2006, God pulled the drain plug of that reserve, and I ran dry…fast! It was a Tuesday morning when I dropped to my knees and began pouring my heart out to God asking Him what was wrong with me. In what has been one of two times in my life, God vividly answered me speaking deeply in my heart. He didn’t tell me to create boundaries, or to get adequate rest, or to deal with my heart’s idols. He gave me purpose. I can still quote what He said to me: Tim, here is why I created you. Here is why you are on this planet. Take My Word and get it to the hearts of people and lead them into transformation. You do this and you will be supremely satisfied. Instantly, the power came back on in my life, life came back into my body, for purpose had come into my soul. I learned to live with a single-minded focus on God’s purpose for my life. This is what Multiply^3 is about…purpose. Specifically, God’s purpose for our church. What is the purpose of God for our church and how can we live that purpose out, together? We are going to embark on a four week sermon series that is intended to help us understand the answers to those questions. If you call Cornerstone your home, then come along with us and live a multiplying life. And if you are just visiting these sermons, you will still be encouraged to see the power of God’s purpose in your own life and in your own church!
